Parents - as of right now, until we can confirm building usage for Camas and Ridgefield, we will move forward with limited capacity putting all kids through adventure camp. Because of limited capacity, we are only offering the unlimited summer fun option for adventure camp for all ages. If we are able to secure building space, we may be able to extend weekly options for camp and will adjust the fees for the younger group. However, since it is unclear if we will have building space, we are only offering the USF option for adventure camp for ALL GRADES. No pre-school for adventure camp.
Camas - For now... drop off and pick up will be a Fisher Basin Community Park off of 192nd and Mill Plain
Ridgefield - we are waiting to confirm building space before we make camp options available. Please stay tuned.
Please read the COVID updates for drop off and pick up as they will be very different this summer
Camp hours 9am-4pm
Before Care - early drop off will begin at 8:15am until further notice
After Care - TBD
Camas - June 21st-August 27th with no camp July 2nd.
The sign in and sign out procedures will be done by the camp staff. We are putting effort into becoming a paperless organization. We are in a learning phase so your patience is much appreciated.
Drop off and Pick Up:
We are implementing a curb side drop off and pick up policy, where parents will pull up to the curb to drop their campers off. We will allow only one car at a time. Our staff will check them in and out of camp. Registration is done electronically, all payments have been made up front, so there is no physical contact happening between the staff and family and the items we use at camp.
During drop off, prior to the parent leaving, SHAPE NW will take the temperature of every camper with a laser thermometer and record their temperature. If the camper displays any symptoms such as fever, coughing, shortness of breath, and any other fly like symptoms, we will deny entry into camp that day. As a further measure, we will ask the guardian if they or anyone in their family have been exposed to anyone with COVID or have they or anyone in the family had symptoms in the last 72 hours or if any fever reducing medications have been taken.
There will be a hand sanitizing station that all campers must go through prior to leaving the curbside for drop off.
SHAPE NW has set its ratio to 1:9, meaning one staff member for every 9 campers. We have also implemented small groups to not only help facilitate the social distancing requirements but to also improve the quality of the camper experience. We will be able to safely rotate between activities with campers in their small groups. Each group is assigned a camp counselor who they will have for the entire summer. One of our program directors will be there to relieve for lunch/breaks in efforts to minimize the number of people interacting with one another. The program is outdoors, so enforcing a physical distancing requirement can be done with ease. Visual aids will also be helpful to keep campers in their groups as each group will be a assigned a group color. In the event we are able to occupy a building for camp, we will follow the indoor recommendations for social distancing.
For outdoor activities, our hygiene policy that exists requires all campers and staff to sanitize their hands before and after eating, and throughout the day. We will implement a further hygiene practice of hand sanitizing prior to entering the camp space. Also creating hand washing stations with soap and water as often as possible and when facilities are available. Soap and water is our preference over hand sanitizer and will be used as a first option when available. While occupying indoor space, we naturally follow the hand-washing recommendations and guidelines. dd
Outdoor Camp Activities:
SHAPE NW has modified the activities we offer at camp to follow the guidelines set out by the county. All water in-water activities such as swimming and kayaking have been cancelled until given the OK by the city. Hiking will be modified and will only use trails that are open to the public. Outdoor cooking has been cancelled until further notice. Any gear and equipment assigned to a group will be thoroughly sanitized prior to and after use. We have also cancelled large group games such as capture the flag.
SHAPE NW does not provide food at camp, so all meals will be provided by the parents. All lunch and snack breaks will be done in the campers respective small groups. We will discourage campers sharing lunch items.
Cleaning and Sanitizing:
SHAPE NW will remove items, gear, equipment, crafts, science projects and other items from camp that cannot be easily sanitized between uses. All surfaces will be adequately and frequently sanitized as groups move from one space to another. In addition, all spaces will be sanitized prior to camp starting and again at the end of the day.
Safety is our number one priority. Campers are required to wear their SHAPE NW Camp T-shirts everyday. If you do not have a T-shirt and need to order one, you can pick one up at camp for $15. Please note, campers who are not wearing their camp shirts will not be allowed to attend camp while participating in adventure camp. No exceptions. If your camper has a shirt and forgets to wear it, simply purchase another T-shirt from the staff.
We will inform you if other items are needed for certain events
We will offer personal time each day and do not mind if campers bring their own things to camp for during those times. Each camper and parent assumes the risk of personal belongings in case of damage, loss or theft. SHAPE NW will not be responsible for any items brought to camp. If a personal belonging becomes a distraction or is deemed inappropriate, we may ask a camper to no longer bring their things.
Our full refund policy can be found online. Refunds for weekly or daily rates must be requested ten days in advance, if you need to switch weeks, a $25 fee may be assessed. $39 registration fees are non-refundable. For the Unlimited Summer Fun option, once your child has attended their first day of camp, no refunds or pro-rations will not be allowed.
The scheduled camp hours are from 9am-4pm. For the courtesy of our coaches, please make it your best effort to be there by 4pm. Late fees may be assessed at the rate of $15 for the first 10 minutes and $1 fee for every minute thereafter. All late fees are paid directly to the coach that is on duty. If you are late, please be proactive in paying your fees and pay your coach that day. Checks can be made out directly to the coach on site.
We have adopted a strict no bullying policy. If for some reason a child has been involved in hitting or biting another camper, or has demonstrated blatant disrespect to others including our coaches, the parent will be notified and asked to pick their child up from camp. Parents will be asked to find an alternative option for their summer needs even after only a single incident depending on the severity of that event. Refunds are not given for kids who are dismissed from camp for bullying or disrespect. Parents, please keep in mind that many days, campers will be off in the wilderness or on a lake, so if your child has recently been disciplined for behavioral issues this may not be the right camp environment as we expect full cooperation for the safety of your kids as well as others.
